A/Prof John Tam is a Thoracic and Esophageal Surgeon with special expertise in Advance Minimally Invasive Surgery. A/Prof John Tam is currently Consultant Surgeon at the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, National University Hospital.  He is also an Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.


A/Prof Tam obtained the Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Alberta in Canada. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with First Class Honors at the University of Alberta in Canada. He also holds both a Master of Science degree as well as a Master of Education degree at the University of Manitoba in Canada.


Previously, A/Prof Tam worked as Clinical Instructor at the Advance Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Center at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. Prior to that, he underwent Thoracic Surgery training at the University of Manitoba in Canada.


He is also certified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.


He performs the full spectrum of general thoracic surgery, including diseases in the lung, esophagus, mediastinum, pleura, and chest wall. He has advanced skills in performing Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery.
