Heart disease is the second major killer in Singapore, accounting for 30.1% of all deaths in 2017. This means that almost
1 out of 3 deaths in Singapore is due to heart disease.
In 2005, The Heart Fund, a sub-fund of NUHS Fund, was established by the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) to assist financially disadvantaged patients and to support continuous medical research and education programmes in the field of cardiovascular diseases.
The current focus of The Heart Fund's active public fundraising activities is helping patients who have been assessed to be in financial need with the costs of their medical treatment.
