Heart disease is no longer just an older person's problem. Many young adults may already have risk factors without even realising it.

That is why the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) is rolling out complimentary community health checks at convenient locations - including places of worship, community clubs and communal spaces.

About Cardio4Cities @ NUHCS

As part of the Cardio4Cities @ NUHCS programme, these health checks are specially designed for individuals aged 21-40, a group often overlooked when it comes to heart health. Our goal is to help these individuals understand their risks early and take steps to protect their heart.

Cardio4Cities @ NUHCS programme is part of an important research initiative led by NUHCS to close the gap in preventive care for younger adults.

Why Follow-Up Matters

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in Singapore do not follow up with a medical professional after receiving an abnormal health screening result? Ignoring these warning signs can be dangerous because conditions like high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, and diabetes often have no symptoms until serious complications occur. Early follow-up is critical as it allows timely treatment, prevents long-term damage, and reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke.

That’s why our programme not only offers complimentary health checks but also provides structured follow-up options to help you stay on track with your health.

Is the health check complimentary?

Yes, the health check is complimentary as part of our community outreach and research initiative. However, if your results indicate that you need further medical assessment or treatment, any follow-up consultations with your GP or polyclinic will be at your own expense.

To support your journey, we also provide a complimentary follow-up at our affiliated community pharmacies (i.e. Guardian, Unity, Watsons) six months later, so you can track your progress and stay on top of your health.
