Biosketch

Adj. Assistant Professor Eugene Tan is a Cardiologist at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He is a board certified Electrophysiologist by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and specialises in simple and complex ablations for heart rhythm disorders, and cardiac devices including conduction system pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy.

Asst. Prof. Eugene graduated from Monash University with Honours, and completed his Cardiology training at NUHCS where he served as Chief Cardiac Senior Resident. He subsequently pursued a fellowship in advanced Electrophysiology and Pacing at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, an internationally renowned, quaternary premier academic centre specialising in complex heart rhythm management and ablations.

Asst. Prof. Eugene’s research interests are in the fields of atrial fibrillation and cardiac pacing therapy. He was awarded the National Medical Research Council Transition Award, the NUHS Clinician Scientist Programme Award and the Academic Fellowship at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Asst. Prof. Eugene is completing his PhD in conduction system pacing and is the Principal Investigator of several cardiac pacing-related and atrial fibrillation studies.

He currently serves on the council of the Heart Rhythm Association of Singapore and on the editorial board of JACC: Clinical Electrophysiology as a Scholar in Residence. Asst. Prof. Eugene is also an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support instructor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
