Adj Assistant Professor Sia Ching Hui’s clinical and research interests centre on the advancement of multi-modality cardiac imaging to explore disease mechanisms and refine patient management. He is particularly focused on the integration of cutting-edge technologies – such as hybrid PET imaging, point-of-care scans/non-contact technologies, and the development of digital twins – to facilitate more precise and efficient diagnoses. Beyond general cardiology, Dr. Sia maintains a specialized clinical focus on cardiomyopathies and the emerging field of Cardio-Neurology, investigating the critical intersection of cardiac and neurological health.
His academic background began at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, where he graduated in 2012. He subsequently attained membership in the Royal College of Physicians (UK) (2015) and completed his Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine (2016). Dr. Sia’s clinical training was conducted at the National University Health System (NUHS), where he served as Academic Chief Resident during his Internal Medicine Residency before completing his Cardiology Senior Residency in 2020. During this period, he was also selected for the Singapore Chief Residency Programme. His commitment to lifelong learning is further reflected in his Master of Clinical Investigation (NUS, 2021), an Executive MBA (Quantic, 2022), and an HMDP fellowship in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging at the University of Leeds/Leeds General Infirmary (2025).
As a researcher, Dr. Sia has published over 340 peer-reviewed papers and serves as the Principal Investigator for multiple investigator-initiated studies and industry-led clinical trials. He has secured prestigious funding, including the National Medical Research Council’s New Investigator Grant and the Transition Award. Currently, he serves on the executive committee of the Cardiovascular Disease National Collaborative Enterprise (CADENCE) and holds editorial roles for the Singapore Medical Journal and several international publications.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Sia is the Deputy Director of the Clinician Scientist Development Unit at NUS Medicine. He is a recipient of both the NUS Medicine Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the NUHS Teaching Excellence Award. Through his roles as a mentor, examiner, and tutor, he remains deeply committed to shaping the next generation of medical professionals. His formal training in education includes a Certificate in Medical and Health Professions Education (NUS) and the completion of the NUHS Medical Education Distinction Track.
