Prof Poh Kian Keong is Singapore's only recipient of the American College of Cardiology's Distinguished Awards

Prof Poh Kian Keong, Director of Research and Senior Consultant, Department of Cardiology, National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), and Associate Chairman Medical Board, National University Hospital, is the distinguished recipient of the 2026 Navin C. Nanda International Service Award.
In the 75th edition of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Award scientific session, Prof Poh is the first and only Singaporean cardiologist to have received an ACC Distinguished Award. This prestigious distinction underscores the exceptional global impact of his contributions in the field of cardiology, recognising him as a leading voice in advancing cardiovascular practice worldwide.

At the heart of Prof Poh's recognition is his unwavering commitment to improving cardiovascular care beyond national boundaries. As a key contributor to the ACC’s Global ACCeleration strategy – an initiative focused on expanding global access to cardiovascular education, innovation, and best practices – he has championed efforts to ensure that advances in cardiology benefit patients across diverse healthcare settings.
From 2021 to 2023, as Chair of the Assembly of International Governors, Prof Poh strengthened collaboration among ACC global chapters and deepened engagement across Asia and beyond. His leadership helped foster a more connected and coordinated international cardiovascular community.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide. International collaborations such as the ACC's Global ACCeleration strategy help clinicians, researchers and healthcare institutions share knowledge and best practices to improve cardiovascular outcomes across different healthcare systems.
Beyond leadership roles, Prof Poh has made significant contributions to cardiovascular research and education. With hundreds publications and of peer-reviewed presentations at major international conferences, his work continues to influence clinical practice and scientific understanding in cardiology. He currently serves as the Clinical Cardiology Section Editor for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC): Asia and has held editorial roles in leading cardiovascular journals, shaping global discourse in cardiovascular medicine.
Kian Keong Poh has demonstrated remarkable work that will bolster the ACC's mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health for all.
Prof Poh has also played an active role in medical education and mentorship, guiding numerous young cardiologists in Singapore and internationally. He has contributed extensively to major platforms such as the ACC Asia Scientific Meeting and the ACC Annual Scientific Sessions as faculty1 and abstract grader. His involvement in the Lifelong Learning Oversight Committee reflects his belief in continuous professional development, ensuring clinicians remain at the forefront of evolving cardiovascular science and practice.
