Over Two Decades of PULSE

Capturing the heart of our story

PULSE Issue 47 | July 2026

FROM MILESTONES AND BREAKTHROUGHS TO THE PEOPLE BEHIND THEM, PULSE HAS CHRONICLED NUHCS' JOURNEY FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES.

For over 20 years, PULSE has been more than a publication. It has been a living record of the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), capturing defining moments in cardiovascular care, scientific discovery, and the people who have shaped every step forward. Since its inaugural issue in 2003, PULSE has traced the National Centre’s journey through change, challenge and progress in impacting the heart health of Singaporeans, showcasing the many milestones that have delivered better care, improved outcomes, and renewed hope for patients and their families. Each issue offers a snapshot of a moment in time, together forming a shared story of care and commitment.

Across 23 years and 46 issues, PULSE has documented the story of NUHCS, serving as a time capsule of the institute’s journey. It has captured the milestones achieved, the challenges overcome and, most importantly, the people behind them. Behind every issue are clinicians, nurses, researchers, allied health professionals, members of the Caring Hearts Support Group, patients and partners who have contributed to the evolving story of PULSE

Beyond its pages, PULSE continues to bring heart health knowledge closer to the community. Distributed to public libraries, community clubs, the Singapore Heart Foundation, country clubs, Senior Activity Centres, and digital platforms such as National Library Board (NLB)’s official app, Libby, the publication reaches readers across Singapore, extending its stories and educational resources beyond the walls of the hospital and into the heartlands.

As NUHCS continues to grow, PULSE remains committed to capturing what matters most – not only progress in medicine, but the people and purpose that drive it forward.
